Assassin’s Creed film releases photos of star Michael Fassbender
The video game movie curse is a strong one. Mortal Kombat. Super Mario Bros. Street Fighter. Tomb Raider. With titles like these, we have reason to be wary of any film based on something with a controller and a save point.
However, the recent photos released by 20th Century Fox give us reason to hope. In these exciting stills, we get to see Michael Fassbender, who will be portraying Callum Lynch. Lynch seems to be contained in a high-security prison, a la Hannibal Lecter.
According to ComingSoon.net:
The Assassin’s Creed movie follows a character by the name of Callum Lynch who, through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, is able to experience the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.
Michael Fassbender leads the cast of Assassin’s Creed and is joined by Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises, Inception), Michael K. Williams (“The Wire,” Paul Feig’s upcoming Ghostbusters), Jeremy Irons (Superman v. Batman, “The Borgias”) and Brendan Gleeson (Edge of Tomorrow, Harry Potter).
The film is set to be released on December 21st, 2016, giving direct competition to the Star Wars release of Rogue 1 on December 16th.
