Earlier this week, photos were posted of the cast from Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the soon-to-open stage play which continues the wizarding saga.
Now, we’re getting our first look at Draco Malfoy, his son, and what Harry Potter actually sounds like.
A few observations…
1.) Is Ron not the cutest thing you’ve ever seen? The years have treated him well.
2.) Those kids are going to break our hearts. You can already tell.
3.) Apparently, these actors are not ALL unknowns. Cherrelle Skeete, who plays Rose Granger-Weasley, is a stage and TV veteran:
Cherrelle has previously appeared in productions of The Lion King and Wind in the Willows, as well as television series Call the Midwife and Danny and the Human Zoo – which coincidentally, starred Harry Potter actors Evanna Lynch, and James and Oliver Phelps.—Pottermore
4.) I had sincere reservations about this play. The fact that it was split into two parts didn’t help my first impression. If you’re going to do anything else with Harry Potter, why not just come out with a brand new book? That being said, the cast has won me over.
5.) The play will run Parts 1 & 2 concurrently. For example, you can choose to see Part 1 on a Thursday, and then return for Part 2 on Friday. Or, you can commit to a theatre marathon and watch both parts on Wednesdays, Saturdays, or Sundays.
6.) Who wants to create a Kickstarter with me to fund plane/play tickets and a private jet to get there on June 7th?!?
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child opens for premiere performances in London on June 7th. To purchase tickets for the run, please visit the official Cursed Child website.
