Laverne Cox stars as Frank-n-furter in the new made-for-TV movie
Let’s do the Time Warp…again!
Fox will present its reboot of The Rocky Horror Picture Show this October, but fans are getting a first look at the made-for-TV movie.
The above teaser trailer (if it really can be called a trailer at all) features Laverne Cox (Orange is the New Black) as Dr. Frank-n-furter, high British accent and red stilettos at the forefront. She is joined by Victoria Justice and Ryan McCartan as the newlyweds Janet Weiss and Brad Majors.
Penny Dreadful‘s Reeve Carney joins the fray as handyman Riff Raff, and Broadway’s Annaleigh Ashford gets to portray Columbia.
Notably missing from the clip? Adam Lambert (Eddie), Christina Milian (Magenta), Staz Nair (Rocky Horror), or Ben Vereen (Dr. Everett Von Scott).
There was also no sign Tim Curry, who was the original Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the 1973 London stage production. He will be playing the Criminologist. Curry’s health put his participation up in the air, after suffering a stroke in 2013. He made a rare public appearance last year at the Actors’ Fund Tony Awards viewing party, where he was given a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Lou Adler, the original executive producer of the film, will also return for Rocky Horror, while Kenny Ortega (Newsies, Hocus Pocus, High School Musical) will direct and choreograph.
