Tonys, Penguins, and Thrones: What to watch on TV tonight

Broadway, entertainment, music, theatre

Penguins Tony Game of Thrones

The Gods have conspired against me, uniting three of my loves on the same night at nearly the same time.

At 8:00 PM tonight, there will be a battle for dominance (and I’m not talking about for the Iron Throne).  I’m talking about the all-out war that will be raged in my living room when the Stanley Cup finals will air simultaneously with the 2016 Tony Awards.

PLUS…at 9:00 PM, HBO will drop the next episode of Game of Thrones, “No One.”  How does a girl pick?  Yes, yes, I know…”A girl has no choice,” right, J’qen Hagar?

I’m going to be playing a bit of television tennis tonight, running downstairs to watch the Penguins (hopefully) defeat the Sharks and claim the Stanley Cup…then running upstairs to see if the Tony will go to Lin-Manuel Miranda or Leslie Odom Jr. for Best Leading Actor in a Musical.

And then I’ll be running to my bedroom’s TV to see what Arya’s fate is and if Jon Snow gathered more than 62 troops since last week. I’m going to get 10,000 steps today, that’s for sure.

Take a look at our round-up for each event below!

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. San José Sharks in the Stanley Cup Final (8:00 PM)

The Penguins currently lead the San José Sharks in the Stanley Cup finals 3-2, so it will be exciting to see what happens tonight back in the Shark Tank.  The Sharks will have home ice advantage, but that hasn’t stopped the Pens from dominating their play.

Will Matt Murray come back from a tough loss in Game 5?  Will Hornqvist continue to run into the Shark’s goalie?  Will the Sharks force a tumultuous Game 7 back in Pittsburgh?  Will Joe Thornton ever shave his beard?  Tune into NBC tonight at 8 PM to watch.

2016 Tony Awards on at 8:00 PM

It’s been called the “HamilTonys” by even Andrew Lloyd Webber himself, and for good reason:  the dynamic show from Lin-Manuel Miranda could possibly make history tonight by winning 13 Tony Awards, one more than The Producers netted back in 2001.

Host James Corden is certain to be a delight, especially after his viral Broadway Carpool Karaoke video went crazy last week.  I’m excited to see performances from the aforementioned Hamilton, but also Waitress, She Loves Me, Shuffle Along, School of Rock, and more.

Tune in to CBS tonight at 8:00 PM to watch the ceremony.

Game of Thrones Episode 8: “No One”

  • Did Arya survive her attack by The Waif?
  • Will Syrio Forel make a comeback?
  • What will The Hound do after last week’s episode?
  • Are we going to see #CleganeBowl?
  • Will Cersei EVER grow out her Pixie Cut of Doom?

Tune into HBO tonight at 9 PM to watch!
